H-E-B – Child Hunger Ends Here

As a blogger I come in contact with a lot of different companies and organizations. It is one of my favorite things actually! But few times am I moved as much as I was, when I heard about the Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign, of which I would like to tell you a little bit about today!

Did you know that more than one in five children, including more than one in four Latino children, in the U.S. may not know where their next meal is coming from? That’s nearly 16 million children, a number that could fill 8,000 playgrounds.

Children who experience even intermittent struggles with hunger may suffer serious, long-term consequences to their health, well-being and educational achievement. What’s more, being hungry robs kids of the promise of childhood – the ability to play, grow and learn.

ConAgra Foods says, “We find this unacceptable. That’s why we are partnering with P&G to build a community of people to make a difference and help donate up to 7 million meals through the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign.”

Just a few days ago I told you all about my husband living in Cambodia for two years. I remember receiving pictures and hearing stories of children and families who were starving. It was hard for me to imagine what that was like, because I was thousands of miles away from them. The following Christmas, I had the opportunity of “adopting” a family in Las Vegas. I bought them gifts and food and was able to deliver the items to their home. The experience changed my life forever. It didn’t take long for me to realize that hungry children and families aren’t just in Cambodia, on the other side of the world. They are HERE… in our country… in our cities!

I am so excited to partner up and be a part of The Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign! It makes me so sad to think of all of the children who are hungry at this very minute – they would do anything just to eat something small.

I hope you all will join us at Today’s The Best Day and help fight child hunger here in the United States! Here are a few ways we can help:

  • Local Texas Donations. Look for the Child Hunger Ends Here advertisement in your May 11 (Mother’s Day!) Sunday paper for more information and read how ConAgra Foods and P&G are donating an additional 100,000 meals to local Texas food banks on behalf of H-E-B.
  • Enter Codes to Trigger Donations. It’s easy to make a difference: Look for the red pushpin on participating product packaging for a code found on these specially marked ConAgra Foods and P&G products. For each 8-digit code entered at http://www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com from March-August 2014, ConAgra Foods or P&G, respectively, will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America. Check out all of the brands that are participating! Some of all of our favorites!participatingbrands
  • Join the Community and Get Involved. One of the easiest ways to learn how to get involved is to join the Child Hunger Ends Here Facebook community at Facebook.com/ChildHungerEndsHere or follow the news on Twitter and Instagram at @ChildHungerEnds.
  • Support Hunter Hayes’ Road Race. Multiple GRAMMY-nominee Hunter Hayes and ConAgra Foods have teamed up to end child hunger while attempting to break the Guinness World Record for Most Concerts Played in multiple cities in a 24-hour period. {I LOVE Hunter Hayes by the way!} **Hunter will kick off the 24 Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger Friday, May 9, and is attempting to break the record (currently eight shows in 24 hours set by the Flaming Lips who broke the previous record made by Jay-Z) by playing 10 shows in 10 cities in 24 hours. While Hayes sets his sights on setting the Guinness World Record for the most concerts in one day, Child Hunger Ends Here is issuing a challenge to break their own record for the most meals donated in 24 hours. To help us break this record and end child hunger, look for the red pushpin and locate the code found on specially marked ConAgra Foods products. For each 8-digit code entered atwww.ChildHungerEndsHere.com, ConAgra Foods will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America. hunter hayes
