Beginner Crossfit Workout to Lose the Baby Weight

I have always had a pretty average body. I have never been super skinny and have never been super overweight. When I got pregnant, one of the biggest struggles that I had to deal with was obviously the number on the scale increasing…DAILY. Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely loved being pregnant and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to do it again one day, but whether you love pregnancy or not, gaining weight is hard!

I remember being in the hospital and laying on that oh so comfortable hospital bed. I had a c-section and could NOT move. Even sitting up took all of my energy and hurt so bad! I remember somehow making it to the bathroom for the first time and looking in the mirror as I took off my belly wrap for the first time – my stomach looked so weird. “That is not MY stomach,” I remember thinking to myself. I was super excited though, because I felt like I had lost 20lbs just by giving birth!

I got home and was SO excited to get on the scale!! I just knew I had lost 20lbs. I just gave birth to an 8lb baby, plus all the water weight and everything else that comes with having a baby, according to mathematics I should have lost 20 out of the 40lbs that I had gained the past nine months. I got on the scale and you will never believe it! I had only lost 6 POUNDS! I got off the scale and back on…. then off the scale and back on. SOMETHING was not right.

Needless to say, I had work to do. I didn’t need to have a perfect body, but I wanted to be healthy. I wanted to lose my baby weight and be able to feel comfortable. I know the importance of taking care of our bodies and staying active. I want to be able to get on the ground and play with Laila.  I want to be able to chase her around the park without getting tired. In order to do that, I needed to get to work.

Luckily, during my pregnancy my husband became a superhero Fitness man! A few years ago he found himself in the unfortunate position in which he had lost control of his eating and exercise habits. He thought he was healthy, but was close to 50 pounds overweight. Over many months of hard work and dedication he was able to get his life back on the right track and get back into shape. It wasn’t easy and took a lot of learning of how to exercise and how to make himself a priority. The education he gained, he shared with me. With a few tips I was able to not only lose my baby weight, but also became healthier than I had been before I got pregnant!

I am sure you have heard of Crossfit these days. The jokes are that anyone that is into it, makes sure everyone knows they are into it. Crossfitters are very proud of their workouts. 🙂 Don’t let the word intimidate you like it did to me! All it is, is an exercise philosophy that emphasizes short, intense workouts that concentrate on increasing your heart rate. For me, when I hear the word “short” I am in! I am not a fan of the gym so the least amount of time that I have to spend there, the better!

Today I am sharing with you a Beginner Crossfit Workout to Lose the Baby Weight… from your own HOME! That is right. Us moms are BUSY! And it is hard to find time to shower, let alone go to the gym for an hour! This 20 minute workout can be done in the comfort of your own living room while the kids are at school and the baby is taking a nap.

I’ve just read this and its made me feel so much better about my pregnancy weight gain so far! I have always been an active person and due to real bad PGP I have been unable to do much in my pregnancy. Embracing it 80% of the time. I am due on Wednesday and I actually can’t wait to start your work out! After a few months I shall be returning to Crossfit. I had just started it only to find out I was expecting. Thank you for making me feel better about it all!!

Awesome! I’m going to try this tomorrow.
C-section recovery can be hard. I had te exact same thing happen as you, when I got home and weighed myself I had only lost 8-10lbs, I was so upset! One of the reasons for low weight loss after a section is because of all the extra fluids they pump into you before and after surgery. Good luck on recovery, take it easy!!

This is seriously so awesome — I love it! I’ve really found a lot of success lately with the quick, intense workouts. In my case, I lost all the weight, plus some, right after my son was born, but after I slowed down with nursing, I gained 15 pounds that are proving to be hard to get rid of! I’m definitely going to use this.

I recently tried cross-fit because a friend of mine is a trainer and let me tell you. These workouts are killer, you feel so sore afterwards but man do they pay off. Great share thank you doll. I’m going to try this at-home one on the days I can’t hit the gym or pilates class. Have a great weekend.

I pinned this for the weekend. This is exactly what I need — something that can be finished, done, and over with in 20 minutes yet still be effective. My first “baby” is 9 years old and I never got her suitcase out of my butt!

I love this workout! I love crossfit workouts! I lost about 25lbs after my first baby with the help of crossfit, yoga, and going on walks with her! But now with my second I have way less time but this seems pretty easy to work into a crazy mom schedule. Thank you for sharing!
