Anchor Of My Soul

I normally have a lot to say and words just come to my mind as I type, but today I am honestly kind of struggling, you guys! This week has been a whirlwind for my family. My birthday was on Monday and I was SO excited to spend the whole day with with Tyson and Laila, as Tys surprised me and took the day off of work! After being out shopping for just a few hours, Laila started throwing up and she continued to throw up for THREE days! The day she got better, thinking I was finally going to have a good nights rest, I woke up at 1:30am throwing up. YEP – I GOT IT! The Norovirus has been going around so bad and let me tell you – you do NOT want it. It is one of the most powerful flus I have ever had! It broke my heart to see my helpless baby so sick and then I got it?! I didn’t think anything could be worse.

On Thursday morning, I was up at 2am, feeling exhausted! I was so upset that Laila was so sick and now I was and we just weren’t catching a break. I got on Facebook as I was lying on the couch, holding my sick baby and feeling nauseas myself. The first thing that came up on my News Feed was a precious picture of my friend Cami’s baby. His name is Calvin. The picture was of him in a diaper, with wires and IVs all over his body. He was in the hospital. I clicked on her link and tears filled my eyes as I read her story of what had just happened.

Cami is a sweet friend of mine. We haven’t known each other for very long or even very well, but I do know that her heart is made of gold. At Christmas time I was in charge of hosting a Christmas Party for the youth in our ward and last minute {I mean VERY last minute as in, a few HOURS before it started} Cami offered her home for us to have the party there. I didn’t know this then, but that same day, she found out that her sweet baby that she was only a few months pregnant with, was diagnosed with Spina Bifida. You wouldn’t have been able to even tell anything was wrong! I didn’t. The girls didn’t. She was happy and fun and put on an amazing party.

Time continued and Cami and her family has been through so, so much. You can read her whole story here.

As I was lying on the couch, with my exhausted baby in my arms, a tear fell on her cheek from mine. I love Cami. I love Calvin. WHY is this happening?

A quote that came to my mind this week as I have been praying for Calvin is by Boyd K. Packer. “He is our anchor, which holds us and protects us.” I know that HE is holding Calvin. HE is holding Cami. HE was holding me that night and continues to do so. And HE can hold you.

HE IS OUR ANCHOR

I love the song Anchor of My Soul by Jenny Jordan Frogley. I am so bummed I couldn’t find a better video of it, but you can click here and the song starts at 3:20.

All alone I leave the harbor
So many oceans to explore.
On my own I face the darkness
As I leave behind the safety of the shore.

When I’m tossed upon the waters.
When winds of change begin to blow.
His words of truth I will follow.
The Savior’s hope is the anchor of my soul.

Sailing on to deeper waters
The journey starts to take its toll.
And I am lost amid the battles
That test my faith and stretch my soul.

When I’m tossed upon the waters.
When winds of change begin to blow.
His words of truth I will follow.
The Savior’s hope is the anchor of my soul.

Voices of the night
Trying to tear me from the fight.
But somewhere deep inside my heart I know
That when I’m tossed upon the waters.
When winds of change begin to blow.
His words of truth I will follow.
The Savior’s hope is the anchor of my soul.

All alone I leave the harbor.

We all have times in our lives where we feel alone. And as we are on our journey, it takes a toll, while the winds of change begin to blow. I testify, that HE is there and He can hold you and protect you, as long as you seek for Him. No matter the trial or obstacle in your way. I hope you feel His love and His sprit every day and know that you really are never alone.
