15 Moms You Will Probably Meet At Playgroup

I LOVE moms!! There is something so fun about having the role of motherhood in common. It is almost like the moment you become pregnant, you immediately become a part of the pack!

I love that my daughter is at a fun age where we get to go on playdates and meet up with other moms almost every day. It is fun to get out of the house and mix n’ mingle! As I have spent time with a lot of different types of women, I have noticed that even though we all hold the same role as “mother” we each are SO SO different.

I came up with a list of 15 Moms You Will Probably Meet At Playgroup. After going through the list, I want you to think of two questions: What kind of mom are you? And what kind of mom do you want to be?

Without further ado:

1. THE HOTT MOM: Here she is, ladies! This is the mom that rolls up to the park in her fancy car and appears to be FLAWLESS! Perfect outfit. Perfect hair. Perfect skin. Perfect make-up. She wears the best and trendiest clothes and you wonder how in the world she has time in the morning to get ready and look like THAT. You had time to change from your chocolate milk stained shirt to your apple juice stained shirt and thought that was a big deal!

2. THE WORKOUT MOM: This mom LIVES in her yoga pants and tank top. She comes to the park jogging with her stroller every week and can keep up with the running children for hours! She looks like she never had a baby and you kind of hate her for that!

3. THE HOMEMAKER MOM: This mom seems to be able to do it ALL. A home cooked meal for her whole family is ready at 5pm every night, you could take a white glove to her home and not a speck of dirt would come up, her carpet has perfect vacuumed lines and her wood floor is flawless. She also finds time to sew all of her children’s outfits, can her own jams and makes every Pinterest craft possible.

4. THE PARANOID MOM: We call this mom Nervous Nancy. She is the mom that is super uneasy about the whole situation. She thinks her child is going to get hurt and crack his head open. She also carries 3 bottles of hand sanitzer to make sure nobody shares germs.

5. THE NURSING MOM: This mom feels a special connection with their baby and never wants to stop breast feeding – even when they are 5 years old.

6. THE KNOW-IT-ALL MOM: This mom is a genius. She has read every book and knows EVERYTHING about ANYTHING. If you ask her what they had for breakfast, she will talk your little ear off the rest of the playdate. She also will think her way is the ONLY way and isn’t afraid to tell you her opinion on the snacks you are feeding your baby or how you have styled your child’s hair.

7. THE SOCIAL MOM: This mom is friends with EVERYONE. When you go to the playdate, the ladies flock to her! She is kind and fun – and everyone wants to be with her and to see how she is doing. Even people at the park who aren’t in the playgroup know who she is.

8. THE CLUELESS MOM: This is the mom that doesn’t notice her kid is smacking yours in the face. She is super easy-going and doesn’t believe in discipline. Her child does nothing wrong so all is well – “let it go!”

9. THE NEGATIVE MOM: Oh Grumpy Cat – this cat makes me laugh. This is the mom that hates being a mom. She doesn’t know why she ever had kids and can’t wait for them to be 18 and grown. You feel bad for this one – if she only saw what was RIGHT in front of her face.

10. THE COOL MOM: Have you seen Mean Girls? This is the mom that dresses like she is 15 and wants to go to the movies with her teenager and all of her friends… because she is cool! She also shows up to playdate decked out, head to toe, matching with her little mini me. {I am so guilty of this! Don’t judge}

11. THE ELECTRIC MOM: This mom is so glued to her phone she can’t even look up to talk to you! Between Facebook, Instagram and Candy Crush – she just can’t get a break!

12. THE BUSY MOM: This sweet mom rolls up in her mini-van and all six kids jump out to play. You sit back and wonder how she does it all. Some women are just MADE to have children. She can only stay for a little while though because one of her kids needs a nap, one has to go to preschool, one has to go to soccer, one has a dance recital and the other two have homework.

13. THE ANGRY MOM: We have all seen this mom. The one that is always yelling at her kids for SOME reason. The kids just carry on, rolling their eyes.

14. THE TIRED MOM: This mom is just exhausted – poor thing! She can’t stop yawning and needs to go home, but she is trying to be a good mom and have her kid play with other kids. She needs a nap ASAP, but it is only a dream – a nap?! Who gets those?!

15. THE PERFECT MOM: Oh wait… is there really such a thing?!

Motherhood is a TON of work! It is exhausting and crazy – but it is fun and worth it! None of us are perfect. That is why I love EVERY mom. We can each learn and grow from each other!

What kind of mom do you think you are?! What kind of mom do you want to become?!

I think we all have our moments of being Super Mom and we all have our moments of weakness. I would love to be the fashion mom, social mom and workout mom all the time – but sometimes I am totally the paranoid mom, tired mom and {shamefully admitting} the electric mom.

One of my favorite quotes is “it’s never too late to be who you might have been.” I love that we can always change. No matter what! We don’t always have to be seen as the negative mom or the electric mom – we can always become better!

Often times as women, we may find ourselves judging not only each other, but judging ourselves and comparing the way we look or act to other moms. No mom is perfect. There is truly no such thing! Just do your VERY best – and everything will work out!

You’re missing the mom that’s terrified she’s not going to fit in because she is so painfully shy. =)

That would be me with a mix of #3 and #14!!

I love this! I am definitely numbers 12 and 14. I have always wondered how number 1 does it. I am not even sure whether I can still walk in heels from the house to the car without kids. I guess I will continue to use that feather duster on those babies in my closet. Xo

Love these types. I know a ton of #2 but have no idea which one to claim as myself. Maybe a combo.

I’m pretty sure I’m the tired mom. In fact, I’m yawning right now. 🙂

I like that you point out how many woman look around and feel like all the other moms out there are doing so well at something, but there is usually a deficit somewhere else. Of course we all have moments of excellence, but it is true that nobody is perfect. As a side note however, you may want to adjust your reference to George Eliot, as she used a man’s name to publish but she was in fact a woman.

This is a great collection of every mom I ever was or am now, just not all at the same time! I’m sure the moms we see at the play dates all have their moments of being every one of these moms at least once! Great post!
